About Geoff Russell
Geoff has over 15 years of professional experience, including an extensive background working in both commercial and not-for-profit kitchens. From improvisational cooking using limited ingredients and resources, to planning and executing grand-scale fine dining banquets, Geoff has pretty much done it all.
Geoff's fine dining experience includes positions at the State Room in MSU's Kellogg Center, at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort's Water Lily and Isabellas; and in the corporate dining center at Jackson National Life. He also did a stint as cook at Volunteers of America where, in addition to cooking, he helped organize a fundraising event patterned after the television show "Chopped." Most recently, Geoff served as Director of Food Services at Island City Assisted Living (Eaton Rapids).
Born and raised in Lansing, Geoff believes in giving back to his community by volunteering his time and sharing his culinary skills for worthy causes. He has donated custom-designed dinner parties as auction items for a variety of organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region, and Lansing's Westside Neighborhood Association; he still volunteers in the food service area at Volunteers of America.
Geoff started Ex Culina in 2014, with the goal of sharing his passion for all things food and beverage with others. He is a graduate of the Culinary School at Grand Rapids Community College, with degrees in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management, and Pastry Arts.
